McManus Says Arrests Are Down

Written by Briana Warsing.

Burglaries are up on Roosevelt Island.  Abuse of power, from most reports, is down.  Those were key points last week as Public Safety Director Jack McManus co-hosted a public meeting with the Public Safety Committee of the Roosevelt Island Residents Association (RIRA).

Editorial: Farance, Chirivas, Reid, and The Politics of Destruction

If you played the game Telephone as a child (who didn’t?), you know that perfectly sensible things can become transmogrified as they are passed from mouth to ear to mouth to ear.

Something like that has been happening on Roosevelt lsland lately. It’s a game The WIRE deems unworthy of coverage, because it’s more an eighth-grade attempt to destroy the Roosevelt Island Residents Association than it is anything newsworthy. Yet, there comes a point where such things require comment, if for no other reason than to let readers know we are aware of such shenanigans and are ignoring them quite deliberately.
