To the Editor:

Years ago I sang in a big, amateur chorus led by David Randolph. We adored him, and some of us showed up year after year simply to be in the same room with him. We thought it would go on forever.

I guess I thought Dick Lutz and The WIRE would also go on forever.

When I came here about ten years ago, I became your devoted reader, and never stopped.

You have always struck me as the smartest guy in the room, and I thank you for sharing yourself so generously and tirelessly. You spent your energies speaking truth to power, pushing back the bad guys, maintaining high standards, sustaining a remarkably vibrant level of communication, and – most of all – educating a community, including this fan.

Thank you.

Judy Buck
