Let’s choose quaint for Good Shepherd Plaza. Then let’s mess it up with a sign – redundantly posted six times (!) on three old-timey lampposts. Who, at RIOC, is in charge of creating a rational remedy to the problem of skateboarders damaging the benches in Good Shepherd Plaza? And why are we banning bicycles as well, when generations of young Islanders have learned – right there – how to ride a bike?
When does a sign honoring a historical site become important enough to schlock up the view of the historical site? Somebody at RIOC seems to have decided that this one merits a spot that destroys the historic view – roughly akin to putting a billboard reading “Old House” in front of Blackwell House.
