To the Editor:
As a mother of four, I believe in recognizing those who work really hard for our community and so I would like to praise Pam Stark and the Roosevelt Island Day Nursery (RIDN) team. They are working to meet the needs of our Island community. They invested considerable time and energy into bringing more UPK seats to Roosevelt Island, and their work is not yet finished.
RIDN is taking on the challenge of expanding their program. They are hiring teachers and putting together a budget to provide high-quality education and care for all of their students. They are doing this because they saw a need in our community. Even though my children will not directly benefit from these seats, I am thankful RIDN is doing the heavy lifting involved in helping our Island.
We owe a debt of gratitude to Pam Stark and her staff at RIDN for their work in bringing an additional 50 UPK seats to our neighbourhood. They should receive the credit for their work in bringing the additional UPK seats here, to our community.
