Letters - 911

Posted in Volume 36, Issue 17 - June 11, 2016

To the Editor:

I was saddened by the recent letter from Kasia Krauze and Mike Leinweber re the death of their friend while awaiting a 911 response.

I had heard about this confusing 911 cross-street demand at a seniors’ meeting in Rivercross.

I also heard that Public Safety may have a code to give 911 to help pinpoint the location of our few streets here on the Island. Don’t know if this is accurate.

I do think Public Safety has to make sure the public here has the right information for a possibly frantic 911 call.

It would be great to have a featured article on this important issue, letting the community know exactly what information has to be given to 911 to gain a speedy response. It can be, as was regretfully pointed out, a matter of life and death.
