Letters - Too Many Buildings

Written by Sofia Lopez & Emily Eleusizov. Posted in Volume 37, Issue 6 - November 19, 2016

To the Editor:

We feel that there are too many modern buildings on Roosevelt Island, like the hotel they are building. There are many buildings that are destroying the natural wildlife.

Every day kids go outside to play on the grass. But with the new buildings, those kids are deprived.

Plus, Roosevelt Island is supposed to be a unique environment that stands out above the rest. But with all the buildings, it’s turning into something like one of the boroughs. Building all these attractions will lure outsiders, but Roosevelt Island cannot take so many people. It was originally a simple island where locals could roam free.
