Indivisible Roosevelt Island (IRI) is a newly formed Island organization that is part of a nationwide network to resist the Trump agenda.
So far, over 6,000 local groups have registered at IndivisibleGuide.com, a tactical guide, and now website, created by former congressional staffers.
Our common goal is to stop the Trump agenda by creating congressional pressure via an array of possible actions like phone-calls, post cards, demonstrations, showing up at Town Hall meetings, visits to the offices of politicians, and more.
It is in times like these that the media becomes an important vehicle for change and citizen involvement, and so The Main Street WIRE has joined forces with IRI to provide information and an outlet for those who are seeking to participate in civic action. This column is the first in a series.
The first IRI meeting took place on Feb 9, with 35 participants showing up despite the blizzard. The next meeting will be announced in this column and via the group’s email list, as well as on The Main Street WIRE Facebook and Twitter accounts.
